Collections, search, and product cards
The results table
Collection and search results in Benchline are specification tables, not image grids with prices. Each product is a row whose columns are its leading specifications, in the order set by the Specification column order setting (a comma-separated list drawn from: dimension, compatibility, rating, material, pack, position, mpn, thread, compliance, finish). A value that is not in that list is ignored. Each style ships its own order: compatibility first for Driveline, dimension first for Flowline, rating first for Voltline, dimension first for the Benchline style.
Above the table, active filters appear as removable chips with the result count, so a shopper can see exactly which constraints produced the list. When a combination matches nothing, the empty state names the active constraints and offers a per-constraint way out (remove one filter and keep the rest), instead of a dead end.
Facet filters
The facet rail is Shopify storefront filtering, configured in the Search and Discovery app. The theme adds two things on top:
- Filter order priority: a comma-separated list of filter parameter names, exactly as listed in the app (for example filter.p.m.specs.thread_standard). Listed filters render first, in your order; a name that matches no filter is ignored, so check the spelling against the app after editing. The styles use this to lead with the filters their shoppers reach for: compatibility for Driveline, dimension and thread for Flowline, rating and compliance for Voltline.
- Fit states on cards, computed against the active filters, when Show fit state on product cards is on. See Fit check.
Two platform limits shape what you see: filters stop appearing on collections over 5,000 products, and a single filter shows at most 100 values. Specification filters render as value lists, because that is the form Shopify gives numeric and list metafield filters.
Product cards
A card carries, in order: media, vendor (switchable in Theme settings, under Product cards), title, SKU (switchable), up to the configured number of specification lines (three by default), the fit state when constraints are active, pack quantity context, price, and unit price where Shopify provides one.
The specification lines come from the same record as everything else, in a fixed priority: dimension, compatibility, rating, material, pack. When a product has no structured values, the card falls back to its specification summary line if one exists, and otherwise shows the standard card (image, title, price). The card image respects the focal point you set on the media in the admin.
Search
Search results use the same table, the same fit states, and the same column and facet priority settings as collections. Predictive search in the header shows suggestions as the shopper types, including queries, products, and pages, and respects the Theme settings switches for showing vendor and price in the suggestions. A search with no results explains itself and points the shopper back to the finder.
The collection list page
The list of collections can show each collection description and its governing specification (the collection metafield described in Specification data), when those switches are on in the Collection list section. A range with a governing specification reads like a promise ("15 mm nominal"), and a mixed range with the field left empty shows nothing extra.
Featured collection section
The Featured collection section puts the same specification table on any page: pick a collection, set how many products to show, and reorder the columns with its own Specification column order setting. It is the quickest way to put a comparable range on a home page or a guide page.
