Frequently asked questions
A product with no specifications still sells. Is that right?
Yes, and it is deliberate. A product with an empty specification record shows the standard product page (gallery, price, options, buy buttons), shows no datasheet, and shows no fit verdict unless a shopper constraint touches a field the product leaves empty, in which case the verdict is Check specification. The theme never hides a product, blocks a purchase, or invents a specification to fill the gap. Parts catalogs are long; you can publish the store and complete records range by range, and every completed record lights up its card, datasheet, filters, and verdicts with no other change.
Why does the complementary products block sometimes disappear?
Because Shopify excludes products from recommendations on purpose. A product already in the shopper's cart, out of stock, priced at zero, or a gift card is never returned as a recommendation. When a recommendation load completes with no products, Benchline hides the block instead of leaving an empty heading on the page. The most common case: you assign a complementary product, add it to your cart while testing something else, and then cannot see it on the product page. Empty the cart and it comes back. Assignments are made in Search and Discovery, under complementary product recommendations.
I applied a theme style and my settings changed. Can I get them back?
Applying a style replaces theme settings with the style values; that is how Shopify theme styles work. Duplicate the theme before applying a style and the duplicate keeps your settings. After applying a style, every value is an ordinary setting again, so you can adjust individual values (for example, keep Driveline but switch cart grouping back to Project).
Why is there no cart drawer?
The cart is a page by design. Project and machine grouping, the project subgroups inside machine groups, and the project name field need the room a page provides. A drawer would flatten the very structure the theme exists to keep.
Can shoppers save a project or a wish list for later?
No, and that is a boundary of the theme rather than a missing feature. Saved lists are account-level functionality; the theme keeps project context in the page address and the cart for the current shop, which covers the buying session without pretending to be an account system.
The finder dimension step and my dimension fields disagree. Which one wins?
The finder reads Primary dimension value only. The length, width, height, and diameter fields are dimension-typed and cannot be filtered on in Shopify, so they are display data for the datasheet and the comparison table. Put the size a shopper filters by in the primary dimension. See Specification data.
Do the styles need different product data?
No. All four styles read the same specification record, the same collections, and the same Search and Discovery filters. Switching styles changes presentation and ordering only: finder fields, table column order, datasheet group order, cart grouping, palette, and heading font.
What does support cover?
Bug fixes, and questions about how the theme works. Customizations, app integrations, and help with theme updates are additional services, not included in the theme price. First replies land within two business days; critical bugs are fixed immediately or the affected release is withdrawn until they are. See the documentation home page for how to reach support.
How are updates delivered?
Through the Theme Store, as new theme versions. Updates follow semantic versioning and arrive no more often than Shopify allows (at least four weeks apart once the theme is established), each with release notes written for merchants: what was added, changed, removed, and fixed.
