Benchline theme documentation

Product pages

A Benchline product page is a datasheet with a buy area. The buy area comes first (title, price, options, quantity, buy buttons, pickup), because a returning shopper who already knows the part should not scroll past a table to buy it. The full specification follows, generated from the product record.

The datasheet

The Specification table block renders the product record as grouped rows, in this order:

  1. Identity: manufacturer part number, specification summary
  2. Dimensions: primary dimension, length, width, height, diameter, thread and standard
  3. Materials: material, finish and coating
  4. Ratings and compliance: primary rating, secondary rating, compliance and certification
  5. Compatibility: compatibility values, position, cross-reference
  6. Pack: pack quantity, datasheet download

Rules the table follows:

Variants are datasheet changes

Changing a variant updates the image, price, compare-at price, unit price, SKU, and the specification rows in one move. Where a variant carries its own dimension override, rating override, or compatibility note (see Specification data), the datasheet shows the variant values in place of the product values. Variant images follow the selected variant, and every product image stays reachable in the gallery. Product video and other rich media render in the gallery at their own aspect ratio.

The blocks of the main product section

Section settings cover the breadcrumb, the finder link used by the fit panel, whether the fit panel shows the specification summary, and whether the media sits before or after the buy column.

A note on complementary products

Shopify's recommendation engine excludes some products on purpose: anything already in the shopper's cart, out of stock, priced at zero, or a gift card never appears as a recommendation. So if you add the complementary product to your cart while testing and then reload the page, the block hides, because a completed recommendation load with no products hides the block rather than leaving an empty heading. That is the platform behaving as documented, not the theme dropping your assignment. To verify an assignment, check it with an empty cart. The assignment itself is made in Search and Discovery, under complementary product recommendations.

Gift cards and recipient options

Gift card products show the standard recipient fields (recipient email, name, message, send date) in the buy area. A completed gift card purchase carries those details on the cart line, and the gift card page itself renders the card with its QR code at a fixed readable size.
